Auto 3RZ to Standard?
« on: Jun 18, 2006, 08:41:44 AM »
I know where a 98 or 99 4runner is with an auto 3RZ and I have a W56 at home, is there any way to put the W56 behind the 3RZ and use the auto computer and wiring harness?

Yes, that is pretty much what I did to mine. See Reply #172 on my Project Thread...

Since the Tacoma's used a W59 Trans behind the 3RZ, being from the same family ("W"), it has the same front flange bolt pattern as the W56, G54 and G52.

Of course the W56/G54/G52 Belhousing is designed for an "R" block, so all you need to do is run the W59 Tacoma 3RZ Belhousing in front of either a W56/G54/G52.

Unfortunately the "R" Family has a slightly different front flange bolt pattern then the "W" and "G" families, so a R151F Turbo transmission (or the R150F V6 Trans) can not be used at this time.

BigMike

Thanks for the reply BigMike! Do you think $1500 CAD for a 98 4Runner that has been rolled is a good price? It runs and needs a grill, 2 front fenders, a rear glass and a rear door. The roof is mint except 1 minor dent.

I was thinking of getting rid of my 1st gen runner and using that body because mine is going fast :shake_head:

It will be a lot heavier, but that seems like a very reasonable price, actually for $1,344 US that sounds like it was rolled 20 times, bent front and rear ends, cracked frame, and wasted body.

In other words, DO IT!

Its a guy I know, he bought it from an auction for around $1500 he said. I think I am going to inquire a little more into it. If I do decide to get it I want to drop the motor and body onto my 89 frame.
