tire wear
« on: Jun 14, 2006, 02:06:48 PM »
I am wanting some 38 inch mud tires.  I need something that will last a long time on the road.  I was thinking about thornbirds, they are a AT tire, but they look pretty aggresive.  how long do tsl's last?
93 pickup,  sas'd, 36in tsl's, tundra front clip, taco bed, kenwood, apexi intake,  7mgte.

Thornbirds are Interco's worst idea!  They scream "MALL CRAWLER!" all over them!  If your strictly off road a good bias swamper, if mostly a Daily Driver, a good radial, like said before Toyo, or goodyear mtr.

Ok ladies I had TSL Thornbirds and they worked fine for me, granted they are not the best mudders but on rocks and modest mud they work fine. A single cleat on the sidewall will support the wieght of one side of your rig by themselves and the tread pattern holds on the rocks from any angle. They were  also my best ever hill climb tires I was able to climb ball bearing loose steep hills that in the same truck with other tires I couldn't do. They are noisey as but not as bad as some others and were good for about 40,000 miles but at about 30 some traction was lost. I think their biggest problem is sheding mud fast enough if you like deep thick sticky stuff. I would get them again.

booger,  here in arkansas,  the best tire bang for your buck is the mudkings,  they run a very long time  with virtually no abnormal where and are as tough as the much more expensive goodyears  or toyo's
