toyota 1/4 mile drag times?
« on: Jun 08, 2006, 10:48:08 AM »
So every wednesday night I go out to infinion raceway and watch the drags  which are pretty cool because almost anyone can enter for only $20 and its not really about who goes fastest just the most consitant because its bracket racing.  Next week i'm gonna try and race my truck and was wondering if anyone else has ever done it and what time they got.  im thinking low to mid 20 seconds for the quarter mile. :dunno:  I mainly just wanna do the burnout :cheese:

I wish Fresno would wake up and put in a strip and a closed loop road course here :maddest:

Its not that I am gonna drag my rig every night, but there are sooooooooo many rice rockets here and I am sick of them racing everywhere. But I used to be in there shoes when I had my MR2, and it's true, there is just Simply No Place To Race. Unless you want to drive 2 hrs south to Famosa (near Bakersfield/Egypt) or 2 hrs north to Sacratomato. What a joke.

Fresno has all of these special street racing task teams with smog referees who drive around busting people and it is such a huge waste of money because people will always be racing here because their is simlpy NO PLACE TO GO.

Stupid waste of money.

I would love to drag my truck. I would hope to get about high 16s, that would be pretty sweet

yeah I think the wednesday night drags are great just to keep people from racing on the street.  they actually promote it quite a bit too do just that.  They also have that top the cop races where you get to race the cop and lets just say that since ive watched a few of those you would have to be an idiot to not be able to outrun a cop in a car with any sort of power.  mid 17's dont impress me

Grudge match racing is pretty fun.  It's not about who leaves the quickest (which is good since I suck at taking off), but about your actual 1/4 mile time.  I'd be afraid to take the truck out there though.

I used to go out there every other weekend in my WRX. It used to be pretty easy for me with the AWD traction to get consistent times. But now with the SRT-4 and FWD, its a crap shoot as to where you will run according to your dial in.

There are 2 women out there that are pretty hard to beat. One drives a minivan and she gets within .10 to .15 seconds every run. There is also another lady that drives a white Fiero that is super consistent. Ramrod is completely right. Its not about how fast you are, its how consistent you can be and how close you can run near your dial in.

If you run quicker then your "official time" in any run afterwards dont you get disqualified and its over?

Down in Sac thats the way they do it.. I used to have a little rice burner that i'd take to the track.

Running 14's in a CRX was pretty fast.. or felt like it!

yep, bracket racing, you run your "dial in" and if you run out faster than that you lose. it eliminates sand bagging and you can put any two cars against each other with different green times

On a sorta similar note, I got a chance to watch a little autocross racing this morning.  Some really neat cars were running, and apparently I missed a local ford gt getting flogged.

HA! We just see who can get to the other end the quickest here in HICKBAMA.

That bed is going to cause wind resistance and depending on whether or not you wheel between Wednesdays, you could have more resistance with more mangling.

Of course, if the bed is beat in a significant amount, you could have better aerodynamics!

I might have to take my truck down the track when I get my ROCKS ON!

Of course, I will be maxed out at 55mph...

Well, I suppose I could just obliterate the concrete divider and take out the other person and beat them that way! HA!

since sears point turned into infinion raceway they have redicoulous tech inspections on all the cars and I dont think it would be hard for them to find something wrong on my truck but i'll try anyways.  can you wait 2 days?

I wonder if I can get the Mammoth up to top speed in the 1/4? 0 to 63 mph in 1/4 mile what would that make?

Maybe a little propane would help.

Won't have to worry about wheel spin and shouldn't even have to warm up the tires.

0-63 in a quarter is probably around 20 sec.
