has anyone ever....
« on: May 23, 2006, 10:48:16 PM »
I was thinking...has anyone ever put a xtra cab on to a short bed/ standard cab frame?  And made up the difference between the xtra cab and standard cab before the wheel well on the bed?  I like the xtra cabs but don't like the longer wheel base of them.  Just curios if anyone has ever done this or thought about it.

We did that on a 3rd gen truck that we sold about 3 years ago. We put a 3rd gen ExtraCab cab on a 1984 Shortbed Frame. Modifications were done to the back of the cab and the front of the bed was bobbed.

I'll have to see if I have any good pictures of it before we sold it when I get back home.

Me and a buddy did it on his 85.  wasn't very hard.  he shortened the front of the bed 9 inches and cut off the front bed mount on the frame.  He had to get a 2 inch body lift so the cab would clear the gas tank though.

Was there any body mount work needed to get the 3rd gen cab on the second gen frame?
