No but I had to make some HD plates to hold my seats because the stock pins were worthless and there was no way I was going to trust them with my kids back there. I may have to call Toyoya about it.

I have never herd of this but the other day I was doing some work to my runner and when I removed the panels in the rear I noticed that the mounts for my rear seat belts were completely rusted out and had to rebuild them.

Please post a picture of your $1,000 letter.  :) I don't know how Toyota knows I own my 85 Runner (I'm not taking it to the dealer for service) but I have a friend who might be able to help me. My rig's rear seat was also a dealer option as it was shipped (like so many first gen 4 runners) as a "truck" with the rear seat delete panel.

Thanks. I don't know if the recall will apply to me as my rear seat is one piece that folds down. If you decide you want to run a back seat, I have a friend who just bought a custom made bench from PRP that is nice. :yesnod:

what number did you call. I have a 4runner that came from florida, and the seats don't look like the stock ones I had in my other 4runner.

I am going to call that number tomorrow but what are some distinguising things on the seats under recall. Mine is an '88 deluxe I bought from Atlanta, but who knows where is was originally from. The pins that hold the seat in the locked position are like a 3/8" rod that pins through a ring that has an inside dia of like 3/4". Pretty cheesey. I have never seen another one to compare it to. Also my front seats are not stock so they look nothing alike. Oh and the rear seat is a 50/50 split bench.

What do they expect you to do with the 1K (safety speaking). It really sounds like a legal payoff so when someone dies from a rear seat failure, they can say oh,well we sent you $1000 to repair it. Not our problem :dunno:

If you read the letter it advises that TOYOTA is not responsible for putting another seat in. So I will probably put one of the sport bench seats from a n aftermarket(corbeau,mastercraft,...) and run a seat bar off of the cage to tie it i to my safety standards. Other than that just keep it off the road and in the good ole rocks like you should.
