soak a rag in vinegar and place it on yer burnt area.  when the rag heats up, resoak it.  the vinegar will pull the heat out, but you will stink unless you shower.  Last time I needed it, i was peeling Marlin-sticker-size pieces of skin off my back :shocking:

If you have some left over you can.

If not, just put it back in the blender and cook up a storm.

Well, be sure to freeze some for those camping trips. Remember, when camping with others: if you have two of something, be sure to share.

Enjoy!

Then again, the recipe isn't that complicated.

Sounds like that one will get popular here in the south quick!

Aloe vera is your friend   it works on the same concept as the vinegar, pulls the heat out of your skin, but it doesn't smell near as bad.

vinegar is very acidic, and thats not good for your skin, especially if its dried out from being sunburned.... cool water would also give the same effect, and essentially feels cooling while not really doing much in the terms of healing

I get sunburned every single year, and you'd think I have a good way of coping, but I don't.  I just suck it up, but I never get super bad(my neck and face turn a permanent shade of red during the summer).  I guess when you work outside every day you get burned more gradually, but the glare off the water also intensifies the burns.  All I do is try to keep the area moisturized with either aloe or lotion, so that when it does peel I can get sheets instead of flakes.  That's annoying.  Good luck, you probably have another good day of suffering before you get the "oh hey, maybe this will turn into a nice tan" feeling, then in a couple days........

my girlfriend works for desert sun tanning salon and i guess your not supossed to put regular lotion on a sunburn because it traps the heat in.

ive always used this aloe vera cool blue stuff and it seems to work pretty good

Yep, Aloe Vera pulls the heat out just like BD said... and the aloe vera plants at Walmart are cheap  Simply take a "leaf" or whatever you wanna call it and cut it down the middle of the narrow side, open it up and get that gooo allll over the affected areas :disturbed: It doesn't stink, and it's even edible

Duffil, I've never heard of the Vinegar, but I'll keep that in mind!! I got 6 charges to try em out on this summer

TR, you don't even have to buy the plant, it comes in bottles  just go to where the sunscreen is, should be right around that area.  the plants are handy though, becuase then you can buy it once, and use it again and again.  My mom has a few for just this purpose

I would trust BD on that, and while you are in the sunscreen aisle... BUY SUNSCREEN :slap: (like I'm one to talk, I was burned pretty bad a couple months ago)

use alovera, vinegar, or water to remove the heat, just make sure not to use lotion.
one way to avoid the stiffness next time u get burned is:
after you are finished for the day take a cold-med temp shower (of course), then when u lie down in bed have your arms stretched out over your head (around the pillow). this will stretch your skin out, allowing more area for the heat to dissipate from, and your back/shoulders/neck/chest wont be sore the next day. only things that will bother you are shirts and lights (duh).

trust me, i'm a fair skinned redhead, used to being burned within 15 minutes outside (in west texas). end of summer my skin matches my hair, with or without sunscreen.
