fuse? wiring? ground? WTF is it!
« on: May 15, 2006, 05:02:42 PM »
horn and hazard fuse blew....replaced it and the damn interior lights won't turn off. take the fuse out and it goes off. put it back and the lights come on. WTF! just before the fuse hits the connector it sparks...

i know this isn't hardcore tech or nothing but damn this is annoying! need some help here...

this happened after i swapped over an IFS rear axle and 17.5+ gas tank. it might of happened when i changed my interior to grey...which ever one it was, i don't know but it's fucked now...

sounds like you've got a short or some missing grounds. Reminds me of my first car, a Triumph Spitfire. Talk about an electrical nightmare.  :tantrum:

Sounds more like when you did the color change.

Re trace what you did and think of door switches or grounds you may have messed with. Also make sure there aren't any shorts around the light.

I believe the dome light is going to be switched with a ground, so if it is shorted it will stay on.

Correct.  I replaced the dome light in mine and found this out the hard way.

its more than just the dome....its all the interior intrument lights...dome can turn off. its also the tail lights and the side markers in the front....

you know how you turn your head lights on? the click right before turning the head lights on. just like that. headlights are still off but the side markers and tail lights and interior lights are on.....i hope its not some wiring near the steering wheel. but it could be because it's horn related.
