Best bet @ tranny time???

I have a Diesel 2WD 84.  When it's tranny time (existing is G52) what's the best bet?  Go back to a G52 (which I hear nasty things about) or swap in something else.  Someone mentioned putting a supra tranny or W56 in there.

What's up with that?
