Single 4.70 Tranfer Case Question
« on: Apr 02, 2006, 09:56:33 PM »
My buddy is looking to get a single 4.70 case from Marlin and I am trying to help him answer two questions.

For reference, he has a 1984 truck (stock G52 transmission) and a forward shift stock transfer case.

(1) Is it possible to have  :turtle: pull the pin that connects the shift forks in preparation for a twin stick and still run the stock shifter?  I'm thinking that this might cause problems but if possible it would make installing a twin stick much easier.

(2) If he were to request a top shift case and make a new hole in the floorboard would the holes be correct for a double transfer case setup with the front being a forward shift in the future?

I have a single 4.7 case that is forward shift and I would have to convert to top shift if and when I add a stock case in front of it, I'm trying to think of ways to make the conversion easier for him without making his floorboard swiss cheese.

Help us out!  :help:

#1--you can pull the shift interlock pin, but it would make the correct gear locations very hard to find while using the stock shifter.

#2--No.  the front case is in the same place, the top shift conversion would not move the shifter far enough back to make it work.(only about 2-3 inches)
