gear ratios, G58, W56
« on: Oct 31, 2003, 04:10:42 PM »
Can anyone tell me the gear ratios in the G58 and W56 tranny?
I have a 91 2WD pickup, EFI, with one of those transmissions.  I'm looking for the gear ratios for some calculations.

thanks,

todd

I am working with Todd on this project, but I guess he found this site first!

We also need to know how to identify exactly which model tranny we are dealing with.  Are there any markings on the piece or some code in the VIN that could help us on that?

:thumbs:absolutley there should be a tag on the firewall or fender that has numbers on it the trans code will be, W56, L45, R151  something like that(its the actual trans code)   diff codes right next to it ie, g102 , g292, on a 2wd, possible f_ _ _  ,f code is a 7.5 ring gear, g is a 8 inch ring gear the next 2 digits are the gear ratio code , the last digit tells if it was for a 4cyl,v6 or limited slip
heres a link for you, http://www.celica-gts.com/diffcodes.shtml   its from a celica site but its the same
