An exo cage simply won't look good on a truck that nice.  Go with an internal cage and just respect the sheetmetal.  Cages are for safety, not body protection.  Even with an exo you can still dent the body.

 :twocents:
1989 4Runner: Dual Ultimate (Inchworm front & Marlin 4.70 rear), Marlin Twin Stick, 1200-lb clutch, 4.88 R&P, Aussie Front, Detroit rear, 30-spline Longs, Long hub gears, ARP hub and knuckle studs & 35x12.50 Cooper STT PRO tires.  Marlin rear bumper & sliders.  FROR front bumper.  SAS with Alcan springs & Rancho 9000XL shocks.  Budbuilt Bolt-on traction bar.  Custom Interior Cage by Those Guys Rod and Customs.

Yeah but on the west side of the state we use em to slide off trees and stuff. I am leaning towards exo for protection because with an inner cage the body would just get screwed. I know dents happen, but I don't want glass going (say the rear glass) because it is very expensive and hard to find.

Washed it today! Good ole pressure washer and a little bit of time. Got both the Ford and the Toyota clean in the time it would have taken to wash one of them by hand. And I got all the moss out of the Ford's body  :talkingn: Time for the Ford to get a new coat of paint...the pinstriping on the company name on the side is coming off (it used to belong to my uncle who works at my dad's lumberyard so it says Limback Lumber on the side.)

Okay just a thought here, dont know what some of you will think, but the fender flares on the back come with the door. What if I were to close the rear doors with an exo cage over them, buy seats out of a 2 door and basically run a 2 door setup on a 4Runner. Just a thought, I know that somehow I could make the rear doors work with an exo, but this seems easier to work with and not a huge hassly, think early 4runner and thats kind of what I'm thinking, but with tube.

 :dunno:

Then buy an old runner to build, why mess up a nice one?

I like to be different silly...

I have pictured this thing built in my head for a while now and my mind is set on it. Don't ask me why, but it's my calling. I felt too bad letting my old 4runner slip out of my grasp, that won't happen twice. If this doesnt get built it is getting sold by my parents...weird situation..

Lime green is the shiznit!
HAHAHAHA not sure what color the cage will end up being. I think Kurtis's will end up being bright orange and Justin used lime green on his SAS stuff. Not sure though. Maybe silver to accent the fender flares. Ill check webuilt's stuff, but isnt that on a truck, not a 4runner? I was just trying to figure out what to do with that rear window...

yeah, I know project has ben halted,  :blah: but here is the link to Webilt's 90 runner

Yeah my parents might sell the 4runner to pay for legal fees that our family has incurred and I might buy an 85 or something.

AHHHHHHHHHH GET THAT CLEAN 4RUNNER OUT OF THE MUD YOU CRAZY GUY :spank:

Hope you get to keep it and built it. And older truck seems more practical for this, but it would be cool to see a new 4Runner out on the trails! :bling:
