ok why a 6.5??? take it from some one who works with those motors day to day(USMC Motor transport mechanic) and i wouldn't use one of those motors if it was given to me! if your gunna do a diesel and are goin to go with a mechanical go with a cummins. my DD is a 2002 Chevy 2500HD with the Duramax and it is a great motor but they are a little exspensive to get ahold of. but anyways i like your axel decision. just think about a different diesel motor
This 3/4 truck spun the tires real easy on the street, And heath diesel said with some of there upgrades to the 6.5turbo, it can run with the stock Duramax.
And then BOOM! game overI've never seen a 6.5 worth taking out.The 4bt is neat, but limited on rpm. Heard rumors of cranked up ones, 500lbs of torque, but only like 140 horse. Probably redlines at 2200? They are pigs in the weight department also
That is gonna be the heaviest FJ40 ever! I like it. Whenever a FJ40 sounds like a pot of bubbling toxic waste it is good in my opinion.
Its not going to be much heavier than any other FJ40 with a V8 and one ton running gear. The 6.2 and 6.5 weight and size are between a 350 and 454.Thanks guys for all the input, keep it coming, gets everone and me thinking of everything that I need to for this conversion.Scott
i don't now about that health diesle keepin up with a Duramax. my Duramax has 380hp and 800ft.flbs. at the wheels. thanks to www.Fastspecialties.com but the good news with the 6.5turbo is you will have a fairly simple install. and you wont need to run a intercooler
i know you were but all i got is exhaust, intake and a programer, and i garentee with those bolt on on a 6.5 you couldn't get near that power
