Drivetrain help
« on: Jan 20, 2006, 08:39:40 PM »
my runner has a 3 in. body lift and when in 4wd Low it will pop out of gear under pressure, i noticed that it is poping out beacuse when put into 4low the shifter hit the side of the floor i dont think it is going all the way into gear. so to fix this problem would you guys recomend taking the body lift down to a 2 in. or putting in a short throw shifter.

i had the same problem so i  cut it toward the bottom of the shifter where its straight and welded in a piece of round stock to make it higher.

The boot should cover it. The cut doesn't have to be huge

fab up a dog-legged shifter.  You'll never be able to tell once its installed, which will keep your interior nice AND fix your problem.
