I have averything taken apart but cant get the little rod out of the t-case that locks the shifters together...Someone please help!

Well i got the rod out and got it all back together and now my first case is reall stiff going back and forth from high to lo... you know how the shifter lever has three grooves on the back side and 1 in the front.... Is it possible that when i put the ball and spring back in it got in the wrong notch? I moved it with a srewdriver and everything is meshing but its just REALLY stiff..Any suggestions?

Is this a new dual case kit your working on, or twin shifters in an old? The new ones are stiff, but work in, so I'm told by the man!
