Topic: hy-pinion and v-6 3rd's

Since I will be installing a detriot in my v-6 3rd member, will I be able to use the inner carrier from the v-6 into a hy-pinion 3rd?  I've read that the detroit replaces the carrier, is that true?  If so I would only need a few small parts to complete a hy-pinion 3rd?

Yup its a direct swap.  The hi pinion carrier is a weaker design than the V6 rear carrier.

Thanks white trash,  I've notice that you've seem to be one of the few toyota enthusiasts to have an extensive knowledge of toyota trucks inside and out.

for some reason the HP carrier is a 2 pinion, while the V6 carrier is a 4 pinion that will directly swap into the HP third.  this is a nice feature if you want to put a lunchbox locker in, since a locker for a 4 pinion is a lot cheaper than one for a 2 pinion.
