Dodge Question?
« on: Oct 10, 2005, 04:24:15 PM »
I know a guy who will sell me a 79 ram 3500, 350 or somthing i know its a 1 Ton. It has a 318>TF727>?>Dana 60front>Dana 70rear.  Four door with a big Utility box.  My question is; what T-case would it have NP203 or NP205 :headscratch:
I am contimplating on buying it for $500, should I do it?   Yes it runs & drives.

Yes.  A dana 60 front is worth around $1000-$1500.  $500 is a steel for the whole truck.  Are you planning on duing a 1 ton swap on your toy?  Or building this for a tow rig?

:rofl2: Hahaha, nice BBW. Yeah that sounds like a steal, cept if its only got a 318 and its got 1ton drivetrain, you wont be towing anything very fast. I dunno what its got for a tranny but if its got either a 205 or a 203 id say its a 205. Maybe even a 208, beefy! Do some more research. This would be a good candidate for drivetrain swap. :yesnod:

we have a 98 dodge ram with the 5.2 318 and it has 1 tons. also as for towing, it has never done me wrong towing anything and i can always do the speed limit fine with a load and it doesnt drag going up hills. however, i know 318's are   :pokinit: compared to 5.9's.

BD, I Thought the same thing, but that's what it has.
I did not check the tags to see if thats what it came with from the factory.

The truck is 1 1/2 hrs away so I cant just run check but I know it runs good,  the trany is the only thing I am afraid of.
I have not herd to many good things about the TF 727's.  :crossed:
It will be a month or so befor I can get it because I have to pay for my insurance this month, and a cappy credit card payment.  :maddest:

The TF 727 is most likey the best auto ever made. I'v rebluit them and 904's, TH400's, TH350's C-4's, C-6's, and a few others.

the TF727 is the one I've had the least truble with just cuz it's always been the least beat up. i.e. they take more :pokinit: then the others and keep going.
A good day working, that's just sick :reg:

Normally the 318's come in the 2wd trucks and a 360 is a option. The 4WD's normally come with a 360 :twocents:

The Torque Flite is a awesome tranny. Theres a reason why manny guys swapped them into their drag cars back in the day. My guess is that the case is a 205 as the 203 tends to be a 1/2 or 3/4 ton tranny. If you can get a pick it would help but the best way to figure it out is the 203 has a removable reduction box like the Toy cases but the 205 does not.

hey i would split the cost if you would let the front end go.  Also i have heard that the TF's are just about bulletproff.  I have even heard a referance to putting dirt in the pan and it still working great.

Well I guess th TF727 isn't as bad as I was told.  Then again, I herd it from my friends who are religious Chevy owners.
I will definatley be getting it when money comes in.  Thanks for the input.
