well im in san francisco right now for a few days and word has it that i blew my power steering box up. the sector shaft has tons of play. i got a call telling me that from callen when he was over at my house when i was on the way to the bay. i thought i blew my pump up but it sounds like not which sucks because i just bought another pump. full hydro??? ill have to do some price comparisons to see the difference between chevy 1 ton tre's, TR/DL with tube inserts and getting the hydro assist setup with a new box and pitman arm. i got worked at the hammers...

from what i constantly read online as well as hearing from others is there is no actual written law about it being illegal. on a side note theres no way i could afford to do full hydro cause if i were to do it, id do it once. (double ended ram)

ya its gunna be hydro assist. im looking around at hysteer kits and there around $300-$350. then i found complete-offroads kit for $230. i noticed parts mike has 1 ton TRE's for $30 a peice. i just called a local steel place that i get metal from and 7ft of 1 1/2 OD 1/4 wall is $78. so i think i could do it significantly cheaper (little over half the cost) just piecing it. im thinking about cranes high steer arms... oh and as far as the previous owner. he wheels and just picked up my old front end off me yesterday.

I would recommend using OEM 80 tie rod ends...they are stamped Japan 555...You can get them from Marlin, All pro or the toy dealer. Beware some of the "other companies" cheaper kits...they use "CHINA" stamped ends and look like toothpicks next to the OEMs

i THINK the law is for steering that it must still work with the motor off in order for it to be street legal.

run heims instead of TRE's.  a 3/4 in heim should be strong enough and cheaper to.

as you turn the orbital it helps pull fluid from the pump and obviously into the ram then helping it steer? explain? i can understand it  working minus the pump not spinning unless only a little under load while trying to steer the wheel creating pressure forcing the pump to spin while the trucks off. ?

i did my full hydro for $600, but i already had histeer arms and a beef tierod.

where did you find another dully D60?

its a secret. ill tell you tomorrow.

run heims instead of TRE's.  a 3/4 in heim should be strong enough and cheaper to.

thanks. i had a few questions for you actually about steering and what not... ill call you up, check out your build, or both.

I order all my link and heim joints from Ballistic.  i am using the regular 3/4 heims on my tie rod, upper link and pan hard.  they should hold up pretty good.  i have never seen a 3/4 inch grade 8 bolt shear.  if you put in the word "pirate" you get a 5% discount also.  most companies will offer there highsteer arms with either a 3/4 inch hole for a heim or tapered for a tre.

did you have to re-drill your steering arms out? or did you order them like that. i see lots of them come non drilled at all and you can tell companies what you want.
