The Sammi
« on: Sep 22, 2005, 09:23:40 PM »
I guess it's time to stop hijacking other people's threads and time to start my own on my sammi.

Here's the specs:

SPOA front with missing links
Trail Tough crossover steering
detroits front and rear
Rancho 9000s all around
grsII transfercase
extended rear driveshaft
four-linked rear with sleeved chromo lowers, DOM uppers, wheelbase extended 7"
rear tubed out
bald-ass 31's
rock lights
newer CD/mp3/wma player

Plans are to put on some 32's or 33's, on-board air, power steering, and make a storage area in the rear for supplies.

Anyway, here's the pics.

My dad has one of those, they take a beating and keep coming back for more.

Next year we're entering it into a tough truck competition.

Nice start BTW.

Looks sweet, why not go to 35's? What coils are you using for the rear? Mind going into the grsII transfercase for the non Zuk owners? I dunno what it is. :dunno:

From what I've heard, 33's are the "magic" tire for sammi axles.  Any higher and they tend to snap like twigs.  The coils are from a set of eibach coilover shocks.  They are 175lb ones, but I'm seriously thinking about dropping to the 150lb ones.

The grsII is a 4.89:1 case with the ability to have 2wd low.  I don't plan on going to toy axles now because of the locker setup.  I also want to keep it as simple/cheap as possible.  All of the other stuff was done by the PO.  I've also heard from a couple of witnesses that this rig hung right in there with all of the other built rigs at the hammers.

I was gonna get this thing registered on Thursday, but I got held up at work.  I'm not gonna take a chance driving this thing around too much w/o any regs.

Anyway, one more good thing about sammi's, when people decide to go big on tires, we can pick up used smaller tire (big for sammi's) cheap!!

Lookin' at 33 TSL's for it.  Probably will pick up a set in a couple of weeks when I've got a little more money.  This thing is probably going to cost an arm and leg to register.  It has been out of registration since Nov. 2004.  :wall:

I'd thought about doing that, but the wife won't let me get a trailer.  The deal was when I started looking for a trail rig was that I would get rid of my pickup, plus I've about lost all faith in the diesel after it's left me stranded 6 times.

Getting rid of the pickup is no biggie, I haven't really liked it since I got it cause it a frickn' boat.
