Good Deal on Tow Straps - Worth Reading!
« on: Sep 16, 2005, 07:31:42 AM »
www.4wheelparts.com

I just purchased a 30-ft 2 inch 20,000-lb Pro Comp tow strap for $27.23 including shipping.  The MSRP (I know they have probably never sold one for this price) was nearly $70, but I think under $30 is a great deal.  I already have a 20-ft so this should be a great addition to the recovery gear.

sorry to burst your bubble man but ive found 50k lb frieght straps at a swap meet for real cheap. 10 ft for $5 15ft for $10 20 ft for $15 and 30ft for $25. they are used to lift cargo containers off of ocean frieght ligners. sold slightly used with absolutely no damage or wear.

i dont have any for sell but do have some for my use, but the next swap meet is in arlington texas on september 23rd through the 25th if anybody is interested.

I'm sure it is possible to get a stronger strap at a lower price, but for someone looking to purchase a built-for-wheeling strap, it is a great price.  I would suspect that a 50k strap is much larger/wider than 2 inch 20k strap I am getting.

I'm a truck driver and use a lot of rigging straps for recovery too but you have to remember that the elastomer (sp?) in a "built to snatch" strap is worth the piece of mind.  knowing your not gonna yank and it come at ya and kill ya is worth a few bucks.

nice find on the pro comp straps and thanks for the swap meet tips.
I'm going yota JUST so I can buy from Marlin more.

Here in Fresno, the 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers are known as the "4 Wheel Parts W-h-o-r-e House"

Now do ya get it? I will never even give them 1 penny. If I were to walk into the w-hore house, I would expect them to pay me like $20 for my time.

Yeah, 4wheelparts pricing is just a bit pricey... Hopefully they kiss you first!  :ladys-man:   :headshake:

I must say, the 4WPW store here in Hawaii (apparently the busiest in the nation I've heard) have treated me very well; my winch, tires, rims, and other staple 4x4 products I have purchased from them.  Once I got over the 'plus freight' deal on their pricing, I was and still am happy.

But this is in Hawaii, where everybody knows everybody...

It is usually the Jeep-peeps who grumble about the local 4WPW store...

I prefer to purchase things from Marlin whenever possible, but 4wheelparts has treated me fairly well, I would agree that their prices are high on most items and the customer service likely isn't the best, sort of like Best Buy where you buy it when the price is good and get out.

Actually, what you posted is exactly what I meant to say.

I buy when available from Marlin, otherwise 4WPW treats me good here in HA-WA-YEE.  8)

For those of you that hate 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers, I had to pass this along.

In the latest (November 2005) Off-Road Adventures magazine (that I am getting as a result of the tow strap purchase) there is an ad on page 95 for Maxoderm.  The ad has an Ann Landers style letter that starts with the following, "For the past year, I've been having some confidence issues..."

What's next, diet pills?  Are there going to be Viagra sponsored truck as the rock crawling events?  How about a Trojan sponsored truck that has a full exo-cage, ribbed for her pleasure?
