yah your right on the A zone.  We got around 2000 acres outside willits that backs up to B-zone national forest that is inaccesable to the public.  That buck was an A buck and I am up here now and am going to hit up b for the weekend.  I Hunted A for 6 days this year and I only saw him and one other small buck so it is not that great but there pretty big.  B is where the big guys are though.  I cant wait to get out there in the morning.

Next year im getting two tags - A and D3-D5. I am in a club with a lot of private land in A but all my local stuff that I go to with buddies is D5.

Went up to our usualy spot outside of Pioneer this weekend, seen plenty of deer but only 1 buck. He was a big gray b*std at least a 3x3. We came around a logging road and he was scraping a manzaneta bush. There where a couple of does with him. There was so many bushes he escaped up the ridge when we tried to surround him. Had him in my crosshairs for about a second. almost :(

Im trying but a college student and part time mechanic its hard to save money. Not to mention my deer rifle just took a :pokinit: on me and needs repair now. Marlin dropped the cost on his SAS kit so I should be ordering it hopefully Friday.

I tore into my interior today. Got the old nasty, stinky rotten floor out and vaccumed up a few gallons of dirt and junk.

Tore out the junk Rampage CD player and ordered a Sony. Also ordered 4 new speakers.

Finally made my first  :turtle: order! Got new shifter seat & socket, new boots for tranny & tcase shifter, and a knucle rebuild kit with bearings.

Once the floor was up and i cleaned up a little, I found something disturbing. A crack in the floor. You cant tell in the pic, but you can see right down through it. Its not wide at all, just wide enough for light to seep through. Probably like 5" or 6" long. Then i started thinking. I changed out to Poly cab mounts a few days ago, and the front 2 mounts didnt want to line up, they seemed a little off. Now that i have 2 pieces of evidence im thinking the truck was wrecked and god forbid the frame or something is tweaked. What do yall think?  :dunno:

Later all time for some  ! coors light of course.

I replaced the shifter seat and socket. Took me a little longer than i tought because I removed the shifter, then i found out I didnt have to. Shifts like a dream now.  :D

Tommrow 4 new Pioneer speakers and going in and getting wired. Gotta have some noise on your way to the trail. Also got a new deck, a Sony to replace my P.O.S. kragen Rampage deck that skipped every other word.

Who knows maybe the floor will go in tommrow too if im lucky.  :yesnod:

When I did the shifter seat and socket I thought I had to take off the shifter untill FIREBALL came over and showd me what I need to do. It was a piece of cake from then. Whered you get your flooring at? How much was it? Im tired of the bare metal in my 81. Its kinda nasty. Good build, time for some Marlin SAS kit parts though.

As for your engine, I just completed my build, so with experience, I know that it would take a lot of money and time to go with something other than a 22r. Lots of fabricating, time and money. If you want a good reliable engine, stick with the 22re, this would save lots of time and of course, money.

If you really want the power and speed of the 4.3 or 2.7, just be prepaired to park your truck for quite some time to do this, and dont think about going out for awhile, you will be saving every dollar.

Thanks TrackVino

Unfortuneatley Ive got a damn 22R not RE. Im thinking my best option is to build a nice soild reliable 22re and just put a cam and header on it. Keep it simple. Ive looked into swapping the 22RE a little bit but i cant imagine it could be to hard.

Im still tossing the idea of a 4.3l or 2.7l around, but CA prob. wont let me smog it since they are all queer about it.

I'll second wht TrackVino said about time and money.  Your money tree had better be in full bloom when you start a 4.3 swap unless you're incredibly resourceful at getting free labor and parts.  Mine snowballed on me until it wasn't just a motor swap and 1 year later I still have loose ends that haven't been resolved.  If you're building a crawler, stick with the 22RE plan and dual case it for the gear reduction.  Just my  :twocents:
If it never breaks, people can only speculate how much it was overbuilt.

Lately ive been just saving for my SAS and studying up on engine swaps. Im just going to do the Marlin SAS kit front and rear, less headaches then me piecing stuff together.

As far as engine swaps i have changed my mind about using a 4.3L GM, dont want to. Ive been focusing in on using a 3RZFE or 22RE. 3RZFE i know what im gonna need but have done a cost analysis yet. If youve done this swap how much it run ya? If I go 22RE i want to run the LC Eng. camden supercharger because 22RE stock aint enough power.

3RZFE is much harder swap than 22RE of course. I think I might just swap in a 22RE and leave it stock until everything is working perfect. Than maybe cam/header. If that aint enough, supercharge.

Those are my thoughts right now ;) L8R

Ive become obsessed with converting my 22R to fuel injection. Last night I did not sleep, I spent the night reading FAQ and posts on Pirate. This Toyota thing isnt healthy, but damn its a hell of a lot of fun.  :yesnod:

I want 150HP from my engine, I think I can do it with the programming capabilities of the SDS injection system. Im gonna get the intake all matched and bored, a hot ass cam, header and exhaust. My cylinder head will be the Engnbldr offroad head. Think I can do it? Hell I dont know, we will see!  :hammerhead:

Today I did a little work, stripped off a lot of smog and A/C stuff. I wont need A/C since I am going to turn my pump into a compressor. And smog, well come on, screw that power robbing horse :pokinit:.

Ordered the stuff for turning my a/c pump into compressor and some firberglass round fenders.

Picking up long block tommrow for my overhual.
