Glad to see the Longfields going in the frontend!  I love mine, knowing that the front axle is not the weak point in my rig.

just read your whole build. NICE work. I wish I had money for my drivetrain but sadly I only make like 90 dollars a week which is enough for a tank of gas every week and some food.  I can only work 2 days a week I cant wait for summer and more hours.  I also cant wait to get outta here and move somewhere else.  Theres no opportunities for me here and its rediculous how expensive it is! To live where I live, a 3 bedroom 2 bath hose is about 750,000.  My girlfriends brother had an apartment in a very very crappy complex for 800 a month it was 1 bedroom 1 bath.  I think the whole place was about the size of 2 toyotas parked next to eachother . rip off? i think so too.

I wish I had an 85 extra cab...I was looking for an 85 4runner to build but I cam across my 82 and needless to say im very happy with it.

How do you like high steer?  HUGE upgrade from stock steering!
nice work dude

thanks man.  yea money sucks, im going to school right now so i only work in the summer.  but i do live at home in the summers still so it takes the biggest expenses away.  I really wanna find a first gen pickup and fix up a little and DD those are sweet.

as for the highsteer i actually havent put it in yet.  i ordered it a few weeks back with the longs cause they were the last big purchase i really wanted and need for this coming summer.  After being at home for my spring break and wheelin it with the front locker the steering was ridiculous it sucked soo bad.  i never noticed it before with the open front, and im sure the 36s didnt help.  but when i get home from school beginning of may for summer, i have knuckle rebuilds for the front, along with armor, trusses, and knuckle ball gussets.  so i waited on the highsteer to do it all at once put the axle back together with the longs and highsteer at once.  i cant wait though.  its gonna be a huge difference and now i dont have to worry about breakage.

Steering with my aussie in front and high steer is still a PITA.  Going downhill in Moab on the slickrock made for really really hard turning situtations.  I'm going to be adding Hydro Assist whenever I can round up the couple hundred bucks.  You might save your money for HA as well.  I would also tap your IFS box before you install it with the high steer.  I did it and will make hooking up HA very easy.

i am just hoping that going from push/pull with the aussie there that i will notice a big difference with the highsteer.  i know what you mean about steering i was coming down some ledges over break and i was getting spotted and my spotter goes turn full turn to the right, i crank the wheel to full lock, the front tires maybe turned like a 1/4 of a normal turn, hes like TURN and im like its full lock.  whatever though it was my last day driving with the push pull.

good call on the box, i will most definitely have to tap it before i install it.  HA is going to be the next major upgrade im sure.  i ran with a guy over break with TGs HA and he said it made a huge difference with his ARB in the front.

Matty

well just ordered some last suspension parts that i needed.

greaseable front shackles, shock hoops, u bolt flips front and rear, skys upper and lower rear shock mounts, i got a complete set of RUFs from a friend that im gonna be using up front, im gonna either cut up the dust shield or order the backing plate eliminator, i ordered a set of the new front axle seals, and rear seals as well.  i just need to figure out what im gonna be using for rear springs  :headscratch:

i go home in about 3 weeks once school ends, and the first weekend back im going on an overnight trip with my club.  then my parents leave on vacation for almost 3 weeks and i get the entire garage to myself to pull and redo both axles and suspension.     that will hopefully be it for the summer and for a while and i can just wheel wheel wheel.

chevy springs dude. they kick ass

so i hear and have seen.  i suppose for the money and flex its definitely worth it.  we'll see.

the only reason i was thinking other springs is because then i can keep it shorter and not have the chevies hanging out the back.

Volcom

I'd run the Ford F-150's.  They are 57" long so they don't stick out like the 63's.  Marlin's rear springs are 56" long so basically the same length spring.  I've got a set that I was going to run before I bought the full kit.  Let me know if you want any pictures of them next to a 4" TG rear spring.  You would probably need to run a add a leaf but they would still flex good.

ya the chevys are REALLY LONG! im going to bob my bed soon and im sure theyre ognna be sticking out.  luckily i have a square tube bumper that im gonna modify to match the stickage-outage of the shackles so they dont get hurt too much. I got rearended in traffic and the double shackles took ALL the force of the car hitting me.  didnt even scratch them so they are pretty strong. they flex soooooo good though and they are cheap.  Just find whats best for your application.
happy wheelin!
