steering stablizer
« on: Aug 07, 2005, 10:42:55 AM »
anyone got a good pic of the marlin sttering stablizer installed? Im not really sure which way the bracket on the frame should go? and which way it should pivot. Any problems with hitting the oil pan?

not sure why this got moved to the general section. the question was directly related to product support.

Well I just went through a few thound photos and I just don't have one that shows it installed. It's really not that hard. One end has U-bolts. This end bolt onto the drag link (the upper rod) of the high steer. The other end of the stablzer welds onto the inner, corner of the passenger side frame rail.

When you say "corrner of the frame" do you mean corrner near the front spring hanger or corner where the frame dips down after the engine mount.  And which way should frame bracket piviot point be? front to rear or up and down?  Im sorry, this may be painfully obvious to some, however its not to me. Thankyou for taking the time to look through the pictures.

You must go under the truck and bolt on the steering stablizer to the drag link. Until you do this you can't really understand it untill it's positioned by the draglink. Bolt that thing to the drag link and then lift the other end. You will see how the tabs are notched to fit the corner of the frame.

Keep the stablizer parallel with the drag link. Center the wheels and pull the stablizer out 1/2 way before you tighten the U bolts.

this is the way i would install it. is this correct?  :dunno:  I also thought about mounting the tab on the inboard side of the fame as apposed to the bottom.  sorry about the glare in the pic.
