Corp. 14 bolt 8 to 6 lug conversion?????
« on: Jul 25, 2005, 11:12:28 AM »
Does anyone know if this is possible.  I've know guys do it to 60's but is is possible to convert my 8 lugger do a 6.  I have 4 sets of 6 lug wheels right now and I'm really not wanting to go buy another set of wheels and only be able to run one of my tires.  I have a matching 60 front and will probably do a 6 lug swap on that if I know I can do the rear as well.

For the 60 it is impossible to turn down the wheel hub enough to allow a 6 lug wheel to fit over it. I thought I had heard that the 14 bolt hubs could work though.

Possible?  Yes.  QUick and easy, no.  Here's a thread about a 14 bolt ff converted to 5 on 5.5.  I have seen a thread on using the 10.5" center and swaping in tubes and shafts and brakes form a 14 bolt semi float 6 lug.  You are probably much better off converting the front to 8 lug instead.

my front matches already I only wanted to because all of my wheels are 6 lug.  I guess cost wise It'd be cheaper to just buy a new set of wheels

bought a d60 a few months back and it had a 6 lug conversion on it. Not a fullfloater though. But it's possible on the d60. Just wanna clearify that.

IIRC Grady's is out of business. Spacers won't do much good as the actual wheel hub is still too large to fit inside the wheel opening.

Why not just sell the sets of six lug wheels you have and buy a good set of eight lug wheels that will work? :dunno:

I would but I have 3 Yotas and I would be more inclided to do that but I have a couple sets of tires.  I will probably buy some H2 wheels that someone is trying to sell on ebay (found a set for 400 Buy it now) a cheap set of 8 lugs and their aluminum.  The tires on my Ford are needing to be replaced soon and I'll most likely keep them for my 8 lug wheels.

Anyone using H2 wheels and what do you think about them.  I think their backspacing is 5" or something like that.  Since I'm going full width I'm not to worried about the back spacing not being exactly the best.

you might want to ask Kevs83yota about the conversion. Check out the truck he's selling in the vehicle section that says Trail rig $3800. Just went out yesterday and bought his seats he was selling and also checked out the rig also. He said his Brother built it so you might want to ask him about it. I believe its a 14 bolt ff and it does have a 6lug conversion on it. Check it out and give him a ring.Good luck. Hope that helps.

I think I'm going to use some H2 wheels.  It'll be cheaper to do that.  Just found some now for less than $200 for all 4.  Plus shipping.
