swaping out a output shaft

i need to swap out my out put shaft to put in my toyboc on my 700r4  how hard is this to do ive never tore a tranny apart and the best price i can find to do it is 450 thanks

Which do yo uneed swapped the output shaft on the 700r4 or on the toybox?
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

on the 700 i need to take off the output shaft and put the new one in

The whole tranny needs to be taken apart.  The output shaft is basically the first thing to go into a empty case when you are assembling a 700r4 unfortunately.  Its one of those things that as long as your having it installed you might as well rebuild it too since your already there.

was rebuilt 500 miles ago so id rather not and besides im broke :shudder:  so should i just save up and have a shop do it for 450?

That depends on your abilities.  Auto's arent really hard to rebuild just pretty technical.  If you have a CLEAN place to work on it and patients then you shoud be fine.  I have all the manuals for doing trannies but Ive never done one myself.  My brother went to college for them si I just helped him on mine. ;) 

If you have the time and some decent wrenching skill you should be able to do it with no big issues.

450 bucks is a little high just for changing outputs.Sure you have to pretty much disassemble the entire tranny,but it's not that big a deal.Just get you a manual for it and you should be allright.You will need a slide hammer for removing the front pump but that's about it.Everything else is doable with just regular tools and some patience.Like WT said make sure you do it on a CLEAN table.You don't want any dirt in there at all.
