best muffler for the price?

yea, the shushpower is great, all the sound opf a flow, but more quit, same price, i got one on my dd

How quiet is "more quiet?"
It is pretty important to me, I seem to have a couple occifers in my area that don't take much of a liing to my vehicular preferences if ytou know what I mean...  :confused:
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

If I was buying a muffler (not a system) I would either get a Magnaflow or a Dynomax (My favorite but not always easy to find).  The provide good flow and a quiet tone.  They are much smoother than a flowmaster.  Campers, hikers and bikers will appreciate quiet trucks and probably complain less about sharing trails with them, just something to consider.

The fact is that unless you are running aftermarket headers the muffler and highflow cat (if applicable) the muffer won't affect the hp that much.  The engine responds to the first item that provides back pressure, usually the stock manifold.

When I owned my 2000 SS Camaro the quality headers were 42 inches long.  I read an article that explained that the longer a header is the lower the rpm that it becomes useful.  The 42 inch headers brought the rpm range under 6,000 rpm.  As it turns out, short tube headers don't really make much difference over the stock manifolds.  I can only assume that it is similar with all engines.

As a side note, have you ever heard of 180 degree headers?  They actually swap the exhaust of the middle cyclinders on each bank in a V8 to maximize flow in the exhaust (very complicated system that is usually only seen on race cars).  The inline motors don't have this problem however.

CT you can go to flowmastermufflers.com and you can listen to an example of what they sound like. I'm not sure if you can sample the shushpower, but find someone somewhat close to you that has it and listen to their vehicle.  But ya gotta let us know what you get for sure, and what you think of it  :thumbs:

Well, I suspect that I will go the route of the turbo for now.  I still want to finish building my design, but I have realized this will be more than a weekend project.  My little wire feed just doesn't cut it for the sheet metal.  In the meantime, I gotta get up and wheelin.  I really wish that carbon fiber would hold up to better to extended temperature, I would design my case around that.
