How does this modified motor perform compared to a stock 3.4  My Runner is an 89 1st gen v6 5spd.  I've been thinking about a 3.4 but to find one in good shape and putting it in is too much work.  I don't have time for that right now.  An easy swap would be the way to go i think.

Not sure on the performance of a 3.4, My local engine builder estimated mine to be at 236 hp at the flywheel. If you already have a V6 this would be a very easy swap. The motor runs great, It's basically all new.
where are you located?

The motor is from a 1990 4-Runner, I believe that the harness is the same from truck to 4-runner.
The only thing I know of that is different is the 4-runner had rear seat heat, and on the motor is a aux. pump and the w.p. has an extra line from it as well. I have a spare motor from a truck that has the pieces to remove this if needed.
No Headers on it. I have a Nissan 300ZX turbo charger that I was going to put on it, so you need the stock manifolds to do that with.

THere are 2 different wiring harnesses, I believe it is year difference though, and not pcikup vs. 4runner diff.  I beleive the3 change was made in 90 or 91, but I am not sure.  easy way to check is look at your plug to your TPS if it is rounded and the other one is rounded, you're good, if the plug is square, then you would need to swap your harness as well.  this also affect the fuel injector plugs as well.

I put a 88 v6 from a runner into my 91 xcab, and i had to use the injectors from the 91 as well as the throttle body.  Also some other small stuff but I dont remember what.

I live in the "Twin Cities".  It might be cheaper for me to pick it up.

What kind of clutch is in the tranny?  Is it the stock clutch, and what condition is it in?

i installed a new clutch kit with the motor rebuild.
My set-up is currently, 4.56 diff gears turning 35x15.5x15 TSL swampers. Welded rear.
Works awsome off-road, not so good on highway, needed either 4.88 or 5.29's.
If you are interested I have one set of Brand new 5.29's still in the box (Precision Gear) that I was going to use with the motor. I will throw them in for an extra $125.00 (you would still have to purchase another set for the front, I run a hypinion front diff).
