intake mod
« on: Jun 14, 2005, 05:37:52 PM »
so i was looking for an intake that raised the point of suction as high as possible, i cant afford a snorkel, nor do i want to rig one that will prob look like crap, so, i made the intake, it draws air a full 6 inches higher, has alot better flow than the stock air box. and a plus is the truck has got a little more hmmph now. whatchall think? :welcome:

looks good but not sure how you would have got a HP boost and now you are up high and pulling hot air from the engine... The cooler the air the better the burn...

more air equal more power, and using an automotive temp reader, the location of the filter is 11 deg. cooler at operating temp thean the stock location with the same filter :burnout:

when the truck isn't moving.  Is it cooler when the truck is moving and header heat is being blown around?  Maybe a sheetmetal sheild would help out some, and also try some "Cool Tape".  I think summit sells it.  You wrap your intake tubes with it and it reflects heat.  Either way, you need a bigger picture.

Is that an open filter? If so I would think a good splash would dround it causing it to restrict the air flow at best or cause the water to get in the engine.

Just my  :twocents:

Still think a larger pic would help.

Depends what you use it for. I prefer a covered filter so a splash dont get on the filter element. I'm one to talk thou, still need to take care of mine. :smack:

If you want to talk about restriction we could mention the added extra foot of intake tubing.
