My tube doors
« on: Jun 04, 2005, 03:12:37 PM »
Some pics of the tube doors that I made for my truck.
I used schedule 40 3/4 in PIPE  :yikes: and my harbor freight bender.   :scared:

The bender doesn't like to go past 90 deg, so the bend started to kink just a little.....but its not too bad.
For the latch I used the stock latch on the cab...but it rattled to much...even with some weather stripping wrapped around it.  So I cut and welded  :flamer: some plate and drilled a hole to match the latch on the door....still rattled... so I used a 3/4 nut welded on top of the hole and that seems to have firmed it up just enoug that it dosen't rattle.    :driving:

All togeather I think that they turned out pretty good and with PIPE, pins for the latch and black spraypaint it all came in at under $25.

Thanks! But If I could do it agin I would have used shorter pins.... the way  that the cab bends forward just above the pins can make it hard to get them all the way out....but you can still open the door just by pulling up on them.
