cut out at 2000 rpm's can be a number of things,
start with the timing, check fuel pump pressure, check mass air flow sensor, check tps, check injectors, run some injector cleaner just to be safe, check all vacume lines to see if they are in place,
hope that helps

Agree with above...

Is it constant or intermittent? Does your power seem to come back once above 2000rpm or can you even get past 2k?

I would also check your timing, and make sure your getting the proper advance.

just talked to steve new owner of ISH's old green buggy, and during the conversation i told him i was running a MSD blaster 2 coil. which i guess can burn out the igniter :dunno:  is this true. he is bringing a new coil and igniter after a short trip to reiter to see if it solves the problem. i guess i just want insurance that the MSD coil burned the igniter, has anyone else heard of this.

I guess it is always possible for flyback voltage from the secondary ignition to induce back into the primary thus going back to the ignitor.  It all depends on what the igniter has for high voltage suppression.

just disconnected the TPS and it runs fine, revs all the way to 7,000+ rpm and the only downside i have found is a 1000rpm idle speed.

have you checked and adjustd the tps?  If the idle switch is still closed at too high of a throttle opening, it could simulate fuel cut.  Get yourself some feeler gauges and an ohmmeter.
