Garage creeper
« on: Apr 22, 2022, 07:25:02 PM »
Who has one?  What kind?  Mine just broke.  I'd like the lowest and biggest.  I'm 6'6" and 270 lbs.  I looked on Amazon and see a lot of "poor workmanship" type comments.  Complaints about structure and casters.

I have a Snap-on

Snap-on is well known for high quality.  The Snap-on creeper is about $269.

I suppose a professional mechanic on his back frequently could justify the price.

I've been in frugal mode since 2008.  Harbor Freight sells to the folks in frugal mode.

Snap-on sells to the bigger checking accounts and those professional type workers.

I try hard to buy made in the USA, but I can't always afford it or find it.

Both sources seems to work well.

Nice to have a choice. :gap:

My son has a NAPA creeper, pretty low and good for him. Will's only 5'8" and 170lbs though. My bud Tim had a MAC and he hated it, he was 6'2" and closer to 300lbs. I've never used a creeper, even when I worked in a repair shop. Grunt to the core.
Your being 6'6" and 270  probably makes it a bit difficult to find a lot of things. test drive a few before you buy.

I'm still cardboard on concrete.

I don't think I'll buy one.  They're all too small.  Maybe I'll make one with lumber and casters I already have.

Cardboard was OK until about 40 years of age.  Then I bought a creeper.

My creeper is SO much easier on my old body....  Amazon has one for $24.99.

Harbor Freight has one for $39.99.

It's worth every red cent to me. :gap:

Yeah, I'm paying for my bad decisions from I was younger.  Tiling and setting rock without knee pads are one of many.

Spoken like a true OLD FART!

Knowing what I know now, and I know a lot, when the conversation comes up, I tell the young person to reconsider how important it is to take really good care of your body.  When it goes south the pain, cost, downtime, decreased abilities is the most dreadful aspect of old age.

Just an old fart's opinion. :gap:

I'm 46.  16 broken bones including my back (T1 T2, T3), punctured and collapsed lung twice, torn spleen, 2 concussions, seizures, and was shot once.  I think that's all.

Is that all? So what's the big deal? Plenty more things to go wrong. Good start though.
