The plug in, on the stock bumper for a trailer of a Tacoma...Anyone made their own mount for a rear tube bumper?  I'm going to replace my stock bumper and am curious about other peoples placement and fab.

My 86 didn't have one.

I managed to stuff a 6 pin receptacle next to the license plate and inner section of stock bumper just below tailgate.

Do you want a 4 pin, 6 pin or 7 pin?

I have 6 pin on the stock bumper it is broken along with the mount which is on the hitch.  Since I would have to buy the entire hitch it's not worth the dollars.  Besides my bumper is rusting out.

I figured for the cost of stock Toyota stuff I can get an offroad bumper.  I wanted ATO plate bumper but shipping is $$$$.

I can get a Trail Gear tube bumper from 4WP on Oahu.  Still thinking...

The 7 pin with flat blades seems to have become the new standard for trailer wiring.    (although it's harder to squeeze spots because it's bigger)     You basically stuff it wherever you can near the hitch.

That and the old 4 pin flat.

If you're rewiring,   I'd wire for the 7 pin flat and 4 pin (or have a 7 to 4 adapter)

Wonder if someone has a weld-your-own bumper kit............

took a second look at my connecter.  6 pins in a circular pattern on the outer perimeter.  2 pins in the middle of that circle.

That is the new one with harness.  It matches the same on my truck.  the small plugs look correct the main may be a question though.  I got the thing from Toyota(so I can only guess it is correct)  if I try swap in the new one and its wrong I doubt I can return it dirty.

I figure to make a choice, and hang on to the new plug and harness until install of a new bumper.
