3RZ swap = brain mush
« on: Nov 11, 2020, 10:23:55 AM »
So long story short I ended up with 2 3RZ motors. One is seized up and has some rusting around the timing area from lack of being covered. The other one I was told was running good before he started selling parts off of it. By the time I got it the valve cover was gone and so was the Ecm and tranny. I was under the assumption thy where both M/T but by the time I got the good one out it was dark. Got home and started looking both of them over and the good motor was from an A/T.  So the wiring harness has extra bits and bobs for running the tranny. After seeing the prices for ecm’s ($250-$550) I contacted mega/Microsquirt guys and thy will put something together for me. My plan is to transplant this into my 22r 87 pickup and I’m wondering what is the bare minimum wiring I need. The wiring in the 87 is functional but been very chopped up. Can I strip off the transmission wiring from the harness on the 3RZ or should I find another one. The other motor has a harness but I don't think the condition of it is very good but it was from a manual. I have been researching for days and my brain has turned to mush. What direction can you point me in - Thanks JT
