Using a 96 Tacoma Transmission in a 94 4Runner
« on: Jul 27, 2020, 01:32:29 PM »
My transmission went kaput. I got my hands on a transmission out of a 96 Tacoma. Both are 5spd, V6, 4WD. I realized yesterday that the bolt pattern on the rear does not match up with the transfer case. The front matches up with the bell housing and both the input and output shaft match with the clutch and transfer case respectively. I'm wondering if I can swap the transfer adapter and have that work. If that is an option, how difficult would that be? I haven't seen inside the transfer adapter and I'm hoping there's not much connected to it.
