Goodyear Wrangler Authority?
« on: Jul 17, 2020, 10:40:20 AM »
So I need a set of tires  for my 1st gen 4rn, but the budget has gone way over. I wanted a set of Ko2's but I cam across the Goodyear wrangler Authority (walmart special)
I did some research and it seems like people love these tires, and for $123 for 31x10.5r15 its seems like a great deal.
Does anyone have any experience with these tires? Is it true that they are essentially Duratracs?
I will be doing more pavement miles than dirt, and probably more beach sand and fire roads than anything else, are these to aggressive for that type of driving?

As always thanks for the input.

reading some of the reviews and pictures they look like a pretty good tire. i never knew this tire existed and had to check what sizes they made fer some of my vehicles(235x75r15 or 30s). 31 is the only 15, just like the cooper discoverer atp(made fer discount/americas tire). i run the atp on my f250 load range e fer about 6 months and im happy with them but well see what this winter brings. its my dd so mostly pavement but i do take it into the woods fer camping/hunting and and woodcutting.

in sand the more aggressive the tread pattern, the more it'll dig.

edit: accidentally hit the go button in the middle of typing.

Too true about the "digging" in sand. I actually found a set of 265/70r16 duratracs w/ 16k on them mounted on stock 2001 4runner alloys for $440. So unless something goes wrong I'll be running those until they worn out.

I've been running Goodyear Authority tires on my "daily" 08 Tacoma. They've been great and probably my favorite tire I've had on that rig. They grip well enough on and off road in most conditions. Way better than Toyos A/T or BFG KO2 imo, and last longer.

On my work truck I went from Hankook Dynapro (which I liked) to Goodyear Duratrac. The Duratracs are WAY better, smoother and less noise with traction and over the last 8 months seem to be lasting with 60 or more miles per day. Granted it's a 3/4 chevy duramax. I like 'em so much I just got a set for my 4runner ("wheeling" rig).

Can't really go wrong with Goodyear.
