flange swap or leave it
« on: May 01, 2020, 12:22:46 PM »
pretty much done with my trail truck, but ive got a small annoyance.  I had tom woods make me a front drive shaft and it fits pattern wise but they drilled to holes at fit the newer larger M10 bolts.  I have not swapped my flanges over and I didn't really plan on it.  the front bolts are tight and but I still am mildly worried that I could mess up the flange by having bolts that are too small for the drive shaft flange (M8).  please keep in mind that my build is a budget build so im keeping expenses to a minimum.  is it worth the money to swap the diff and front tcase output over to an M10 bolt flange? heres my junk.

Or if the holes line up, put a bushing in the M10 holes to reduce to M8...………..

Thanks for the replies.  Sometimes the cheapest option is the best.  I think I’ll take the old Milwaukee to the flames and drill them out to M10.

I've never heard of anyone having balance issues after drilling a flange. The bolts/holes are not what center the driveline on the flange.
