Topic: W56 trans - 1980 20r

So I put a stock w56 trans/ transfer case in my 1980 20r
Had to shorten the rear drive shaft and front lengthened. W56 is 5” or so longer than stock L43
To just mount the w56 I went the easy route and bought a  Bud Built crossmember that aloud me to use U bolts Over the frame rail.
But here’s the problem I didn’t take the clutch off/ inspect the flywheel/ replace pilot bearing nada
I did use the clutch fork/ new throw out bearing from w56
The old centerforce looked ok? But after I had everything back together and test drove I have this overwhelming sound and vibration
I made a post a while ago about this thinking it was my drive shaft angle and blah blah blah
I think I just need later style clutch kit and 20r style  flywheel resurfaced or new? Hoping someone can chime in on this

Could be the angle but I’ve changed and had more of an angle on something else and never had that problem
Drive shaft it self was professionally rebuilt and shortened at the local shop Pacific truck in Salinas ca and they work on everything driveline wise I really hope they didn’t flopp mine up but how am I supposed to know it’s unbalanced just take it back and have them check it again?

Are you using a CV rear shaft?

take off the rear shaft and drive front axle only to see if it's the rear shaft.

When I had my 80 I didn't need a CV rear driveshaft only because it was a longbed when I did the the swap for the trans, I also swapped in a 22r. If it were a shortbed it will need a CV rear, also make sure that the rear axle pinion is pointed at the tailend of the transfer case or it will cause a severe vibration. When I had put the duals in my current 4Runner it required a CV driveshaft to eliminate vibration and help with travel since it will bind at the u-joints with the shorter driveshaft in the rear.
