Check for a bad cam chain guide before you get too far into changing the rockers as the slapping chain will sometimes mimic rocker noise. Those plastic guides are problematic. Front cover must come off to replace, but looking down from the cam gear and moving the guide lightly back and forth against the cam chain, any movement, replacement time. Get Metal replacements.
Hi mountain,man1.....I moved it around a little bit. She still runs. She just don't sound happy. I did some wiring that needs to be done. Ive been working on the crappy crx trying to keep it going. You started posting here January last year. You have asked a lot of questions and said what you are going to do to your 4Runner.I'm just curious, what have you done to your 4Runner since January of 2019? Gnarls.
I redid the top end 4 years ago But was under a deadline from the state of Colorado to get emissions and VIN check so I cut some corners. I know it's the rocker arms because when I did everything I put all new timing chain sprockets guides the work
I drive a company truck everyday so i don't put much miles on my own vehicles. The odometer read 237,000 when i had the head planed and resurfaced i put in a new timing kit (cover, chain, guides, tensioner, sprockets, water & oil pumps) and all new gaskets and seals for the whole motor the odometer currently reads 254,796
Are you sure you haven't wiped out a cam lobe?I hadn't thought of that It's possible to reassemble the rocker shafts wrong and not get enough oil up top...………………..
