R150F conversion to 2wd
« on: Jan 27, 2020, 08:57:49 AM »
Hello,
I'll make this quick and painless.

i want a different manual transmission for my race truck.
it currently has a W58

i found a couple R150F 4wd trannys, and i want to know...
can i swap my bell housing and tail cone from my W58 to the R150f, or is there something else i need to do to convert it to 2wd? i do know that the R150F is 23 spline output shaft and my W58 is 21 spline, so i will be getting a new slip yoke.

i have a 22RE that why i need to swap the bell housing too

the truck:

The W bellhousing pattern is different than the R bellhousing, you will not be able to use your bellhousing.  Also your W tailhousing will not work either. I would try to track down a R150 2wd, and than a a R151F bellhousing to go to your 22RE.  or you can get a bellhousing adapter like this one: http://www.northwestfab.com/Toyota-4-Cylinder-Bell-Housing-to-Toyota-R150R151-Transmission-Kit_p_1053.html  and use your bellhousing.  But definitly need to find a 2wd R150.

i just found a 4cyl 2wd transmission from a 98 tacoma, which tranny code would it be? I'm assuming it should bolt up to my 22re, i would i still need a different bell housing?
