Alternator wiring question
« on: Dec 06, 2019, 10:37:30 AM »
Hello everyone, new to this board and fairly new to Toyota pickups. I recently bought a 1985 Toyota 4x4 EFI that was mostly in parts in the engine area. Rest of the truck is pretty solid but will need work as well. I have been doing pretty well getting it back together in hopes of getting it running again but have run into an issue that I can’t  find an answer to. I have searched the internet and you tube with no luck. Anyway I put the alternator back in and I’m not sure where this ring terminal goes? It’s part of a group of 3 wires bundled together, one plastic plug going to the back of the alternator, one black and yellow ground going to the side of the block and this ring terminal. Anyone know where it connects? It almost looks like it might connect to the alternator somewhere as there isn’t enough slack for it to go much further away. Thanks in advance

If there's a white wire attached to it...yeah. it goes to main stud on back of alternator

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate the help. Sorry I couldn't post a picture because of forum regulations but you guys seem to know your engines pretty well in spite of that.  :turtle3:
