Crawl Surge

Crawl Surge

I have a dual case setup in my 82 22r, when I’m in compound low the speed of my crawl will surge it’s not a smooth consistent speed. I’m wondering if this is a sign that something is wearing out or if this is normal. I’m in the process of swapping in a new trans and making some other changes and might change my adapter as well. My T case adapter is an old JP Eater adapter history is unknown. Trans is a G series HD from Marlin

Des it happen on a slight incline or uphills or only flat?  There is kind of a lot of wrap up in the drive train which could sometimes be misconstrued for surging.
hold this. . .

Does this happen at all rpm's or just in one zone of rpm?

mostly noticeable in compound low, im planning on re building the drive train and was thinking this could be a wear issue. I've decided not to re-use the old dual case adapter. It was an ancient JPeater dual case adapter, I tried to make a video but you cant really notice anything.

Totally normal. All the backlash in the gears adds up and makes it feel like that plus add a little spring wrap and it feels like surging. if you hold the brake ever so slightly it goes away.

What is the engine doing when the surge occurs?
Is this when you are crawling along at idle, just of idle, or lift of the throttle?

Hmmmm….interesting ….. after 33 years of being involved in 4-wheeling as a hobby, until now...I've never heard anyone mention "crawl surge", never experienced myself something I'd call "crawl surge"? :dunno:

I'm feeling "surge-less"!!  :willynilly:

I've been thinking about CS (crawl surge)

Now.... I have heard something described similar to CS...

  :haha:  Thrash'n N' Bash'n, Wang'n N' Bang'n, Spin'n N' Grin'n, Rock'n N' Roll'n, Turn'n N' Burn'n!

But... it may not feel the same as a crawl surge?  :rofl2:

Consider yourself fortunate, your either just good or one of the lucky ones. It’s obvious to me, you have been immaculately conceived into the master god like rankings of rock crawling wizardry.  :)
“Sir Master Gnarls The Great” A title more fitting for a Gnar Dog of your master rankings.
