Last week I purchased “CROC” from a fellow Toyota friend. I have always wanted to own a crawler and finally at age 47 I have one.
1989 Single Cab.
22re with 50 some k on it.
Lots of bar work, roll cage.
Twin cases
4 wheel disc
38 Swampers
Bobbed bed
The driver door has a vent (other door doesnt) so I suppose I have AC. Also have a plexiglass rear slider for weight savings I’m sure.
Dings, dents, scratches all over and love it. I notice some rust so CROC may get some POR 15 and a fresh coat of Camp Green
Goal: make this booger as road worthy as possible without sacrificing capability. I like driving places, wheeling and driving home.
Planned upgrades:
Dual batteries
-On Board fridge
Tach
OBA
Complete tune up
Rebuild front axle
Maybe I’ll put a radio in it. Not sure. I have ear buds and podcasts.
I might do a CB
Get the back set up so I can live out of the old girl for a while.
I think a couple of cup holders are in order.
I think when the swampers get down low enough I might go to a radial tire.
Thats it.
The simplicity of these older trucks just makes me pitch a tent. Simple, functional; making me wonder why we moved forward when we had all we needed then.
Home base is Badlands by I see this hoss running the Rubicon one day. And I hoe to drive it there!
Happy trails!
