Big tires with road type tread
« on: Jul 09, 2019, 03:00:02 PM »
hey:

I have 37's on 15" wheels and 15" wheels is where I wish to stay.  I am running Goodyear tires ( about $500 each) and it seems that the larger I go the more they look like rock climbing tires. I will have a set for the road and a set for playing but for now, it's a set for the road. I want to get a set of 42's but it looks like 40's may be the last of the road tread looking tires. I've always been a fan of balloon tires and that is why I wish to stay w/ 15" rims and nothing can change my mind.  I've been doing a lot of research and there never seems to be an end to it but when I find the end, I know I will feel like a tire specialist!!!! What advice do you have and on what large tires may be road friendly and not scream bloody murder while driving ( not that I mind the sound of a John Deere traveling 50 mph):D . I also don't want the road to chew them all to heck. Mind you, this is not a daily driver and just for local joy runs and sight seeing.  It will help when I will be able to post photos of my joy ride. Soon my friends, soon........ :D :D
Yours may go fast, but, mine can go anywhere and if you get in my way, I'll run over you with my big tires, the Taco Box way...... Nice and slowwwwwwww......

finding a 40 inch tire for a 15 inch rim is going to be near impossible. They're making 33x12.50R17 these days. Unless you want a Super Swamper, you'll probably have more luck wrapping your 37 with duct tape until it becomes 40 inches tall  . I'm curious what 37X1?.??R15 tire you have that you consider quiet?

The new Baja wheels I am buying for $500 polished are 15 X 12" and will look sweet under my ride. Even 40's will look good on them. My fugly black wagon wheels are 15" X 10" and my 37's look great on them! I have many contacts in my area and people are wheeling and dealing in wheels and tires all the time since Flagler County is the Mud Boggin' capital of the USA!!!

Sorry, forgot to post a photo of my two choices for the wheels. The question in choosing is..... Do I like pretty or do I like rugged......

Less upkeep with the black.

Do they have one that's the color of brake dust?

I agree but I think I better wait to decide what color I paint this beast. I'm thinking metallic blue. I like Porsche red but I think red demands too much attention and it won't be quite road legal with a bumper at 40" off the ground ( legal is 29"). I am thinking about rigging up brackets to mount cool temp bumpers for road use. My friends tell me the cops don't bother as long as you aren't driving like an idiot.

Are you talking about the MT Baja Claw Tires? Or the Baja MTZP3? I am thinking of ordering the MT Baja Boss tires on 4wheelonline.
