The idiot/slash me version is the 80a fuse blew, along with the connector on what should be the fusible link.

Are you sure that the whole box is bad, or just the main fuse?  Did you trouble shoot as to why you popped an 80A fuse.

The 80 comes out the bottom. Its screwed on. Pull it out and check it.

OK as expected, I am dumb as a stump.  It's only now that i realize the "terminal" i keep talking about is actually PART of the 80a fuse 

This doesn't change the fact something is wrong but it at least clears up the fuse issue.  I'll delete this post eventually as I don't need the fuse block any longer and is a good thing $$ wise.

Off to research grounds unless someone thinks it's something else?

I would follow whatever wire burnt up. There must be somewhere grounding it out.
