Well I'm still running hot between 208 to 216 degrees.

1) I think my fan clutch may be bad. How can I confirm this?

2) I built a custom shroud and see no difference in temp.

3) maybe replace the tstat again? I know it's a new Toyota one but is the jiggle valve suppose to be at 6 o clock like the 3.4?

Anyhow I did get the exhaust finished. Ended up dropping under the bellhousing, didn't want to but  wasn't going to fit otherwise.

As far as fan clutch, when it's cold. It should have a fluid tension feel to it. If it spins freely, it's bad.

It does not spin freely. So maybe it's okay.

Went ahead and replaced the fan clutch and the T stats... sits right around 190 - 199 now. So atleast its better. Havent seen it go over 200! So im happy with it.

I did however break my u joint on my driveshaft the other day, just got that back together and back on the road again.

Now I need suggestions on what throttle cable to use. This universal one i have keeps getting sticky and wanting to rev and hold. Not ideal on the trails at all, reminds me on when i had the 22r in there and on a hill it would rev up from gas spilling into it.

So you went and found a 2wd cable from a taco? I just broke my damn universal one and had to ghetto rig it. I'll have to show you guys some pictures. Of course I was in the middle of a trail.

Mine came from a 2wd tacoma. 4wd should be the same as well.

Yeah I grabbed one from a 2wd. Worked so perfect. Just pulled out the insert and put the 22r brass insert and bolted right up like the old 22r cable.

My goodness, it seems to be never ending with the issues...

I have a hole in my brand new Spectra fuel tank that I purchased three months ago. I'm wondering if anyone else has had issues with aftermarket tanks? And If not which brand did you use / where did you buy it?

Seems like every day I have some new issue with this thing...  anyone want to buy it? lol

Is it like a hole hole? like you punched a hole in it on a rock? Or is it a pinhole? or a leak?

It is the strangest thing, its a hole hole maybe it was punctured by a rock, but what is odd is it doesn't match up with any of the skid plates holes. I'll have to check out the trajectory when it finishes draining itself.

The other odd thing about it is that when I parked it yesterday after a good 100-mile trip, I did my usual walk around and inspect for damage, scratches tire wear etc. All checked out and the next morning I went out there and it was literally dumping gas and the half tank I had was already just above the E line.

I can pull it off and weld the hole, just wondering It may just be better to replace it completely?

I took this video after I pulled off the skid,
Did you notice the slightly darker area around the hole? I found this odd, not really sure what to make of it, but odd none the less.

Does the tank have a drain plug? That is certainly odd.

No Drain plug, not like my old stock one, should have kept that and made armor out of it or something...

No too happy with spectra products. This is the second spectra tank I've owned that has leaked right away. Of course, you can't buy OEM ones anymore as they are discontinued and every junkyard I've called/ gone to doesn't have the 4x4 tanks.

Anyone have a good FI tank they want to sell me??

I have a buddy in San Jose that most likely will have a few. 14 gallon. And 17 gallon. You most likely would have to drive there, as he does not ship. Let me know.

Might be a possibility that ill be going up there in March. Ill let you know for sure, but I'm in San Diego, so that would be a bit of a drive to just go up there for that. Thanks for helping! I do appreciate it very much.

Our junkyards poke holes in them. Wish they wouldn't do that.

I have this idea in my head, that the hole must have come from a rock bouncing up and hitting it. I found this stuff that's heat moldable plastic that hardens to strong plastic.

Now that I found this I have several ideas for it and im ure you guys will come up with more!

1) Gas tank armor under skid plate and just mold it right to the belly of it Should protect from those tiny rocks. While the metal skid will guard against larger ones.
2) New inner fender wells. Since I have fiberglass fenders the inner well plastics don't fit. With this, I should be able to make new ones.
3) New door cards, and can mold in arm rests.

Im in contact with two different manufacturers to get larger sizes. Currently could only find 8"x12" Ill give you guys more info once I find out

Still waiting for an answer on the moldable plastics.

However I've fixed the gas tank, What I noticed was that the tank had a spot weld in the location that it broke. I found 8 in all the needed reinforcing. Can see what i mean in the photo.

Side note, Can I get away with this in California? Ignore the broken shock on the back of the bike. I want to bring my pitbike with me and would rather use the front hitch. Back hitch will have spare and jerry cans.
