What did I buy? Random Transmission/ T-case.
« on: Jul 15, 2018, 10:35:33 AM »
Not exactly sure where to put this since it's not tech... I was browsing Facebook market place for a t-case core and stumbled upon these. The seller said it was a w56 out of 3.0 which even with my limited experience I dont think is possible, but what I was really interested in was the t-case.

As you can see it has "marlin Crawler" engraved on the plate. It looks older but it turns and seems to work. I have not really kept up with toyota stuff over the years, so anyone have any info for me?

There is no doubt that you have a gear drive transfercase behind a 3.slow. the pics that you posted. Are of a v6 adapter. Built by Marlin Crawler

From what I see it is a r150 from behind a 3.0. It has a rf1a gear drive case from a 4cyl truck and uses that adapter to bolt them together. Should be 23 spline input on that case. Could have came from a turbo truck or it could be that they swapped the input gear. Do you know if its 2.28 or 4.7 gear?

Adapter for R150, it should have a S/N on the drivers side, post it up. It does not look like it has been upgraded to stop the oil from draining from the tranny. Marlin will do it for free, contact Marlin Crawler!!

Thanks for all the info everyone. Hopefully tomorrow or the next day I can get home and see what gears it has in it. And I'll clean it up this weekend.

I was going to keep it for a core or tear it apart to use as a crawl box but I dont think I can do that now since I'm sure people are looking for the adapter/case.

Serial # is either 099 or 660 depending on orientation of the case. Probably 099 since yachts what it reads in the position it would be bolted to the trans.

It is a 23-spline input as far as I can tell. My eyes blur when I try to count them. But I get 23 more often than 22 so....

Gears I am not sure about. 3 turns of the input shaft turns the output 1 time. 3 is closer to 2.28 than 4.7 so I am leaning towards 2.28.

Any input on the gear ratio would be appreciated!

2.28. If it were 4.7 you would be turning it 4 and 3/4 turns to get 1 output revolution.
