setting up gears
« on: Apr 09, 2005, 08:58:37 AM »
:help: Ok so I am going to weld my rear :flamer:  :moon: .  Not that way :nonono: .  They say I shouild remove my ring gear and bearings, How hard is it to set them back up?  I noticed that the toyota has the same adjustment method of a nine inch.  I know how to move the gear back and forth but how do I know the proper setting.  Or is there a way i can take it apart without screwing with the setting like if it were shimmed? :dunno:   Please help :yesnod:

just count the number of the little splines on both sides and put it back the same way. :)
You have a Jeep?  That's cute.... So does Barbi.

Make sure you arc weld the carrier with some fatty rod.  If you mig weld the spiders together the penetration may not be enough and may break in an inopurtune point in time :hammer:
