Weber 32/36 vs weber 38, and tranny identification
« on: Jan 29, 2018, 07:33:34 PM »
Hey, I was wondering if a weber 38 would be the best choice for this build. I have a 22r bored 40 over, 40 over pistons, 20r head, 22r valves, aluminum rockers, lce cam, and msd ignition. I also have a tranny I was going to run with it but I'm not sure what it is? I was thinking a g52 or w56 but I can't tell?

I think it's a g52.  You can tell by the spacing and number of the structural ridges in the casting.  The W56 has more and hence are closer together.  I'm referring to the gear box cast housing behind the bell housing.  Check out the images on the Marlin store and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Somebody else with more knowledge than we will have to provide carb guidance.

I concur on the trans I think that's a G52.

On the carb, most guys are happy with the 32/36.  I ran one on a hybrid and it got it done for sure.  You would not be dissapointed.  I also picked up a 38 just for kicks that I will try out some time.  The idea of all in at once throttle response sounds fun.  A lot of guys have trouble getting the 38 to run right on a 20/22r.  I hate to pass on second hand info though so I can't really say on the 38 since I haven't tried it yet.  If you search around you will find a ton of likes and dislikes on the 38.

Almost everybody seems to like the 32/36.

You just have to decide how you want the truck to drive and be ready to tune.

Just make sure to get a good fuel pressure regulator, like the redline one.
