Difference between 2wd R150 and 4wd R150
« on: Dec 03, 2017, 11:13:58 PM »
Hello folks,
I'm planning the eventual conversion of my T100 to 4wd, and I'd like to save money by keeping the transmission I have, an R150. I'd like to know if it's possible to convert it at all,  but my searches online haven't yielded anything. Does anyone have any knowledge of my options? Is it a matter of sourcing a 4wd tailhousing? All help is appreciated.

Vehicle specs:
1996 T100, 5VZ-FE, R150.

If you want to retain the 2wd trans, you need to go with a divorced transfercase.

2wd                                                                                                                        4Wd

Given the parts you need, it is should be cheaper to buy a parts truck rather than the pieces separately.

as far as i remeber the output shaft or main shaft is different so you cant just swap the back housings its slightly more involved so probably just buying a 4wd would be cheaper.
