Need help with late model r150f
« on: Nov 16, 2017, 07:28:45 AM »
Vehicle : 2001 4x4 Xtra cab 3.4 5 spd r150f

I took a 600 mile trip and ran the transmission with extremely low oil. In 5th I started hearing a humming and put it in nuetral then lost 1st 2nd 3rd 5th and R. I dropped the transmission and pulled the case off and the 4th gear on the input shaft had all the teeth sheared off and some of the teeth wear welded into the corresponding gear on the countershaft.

So my issue is finding a replacement r150f had been tough.  I am left with trying to find a r150 from a 4x2 and swapping the end case and output shaft.  (Also taking a gamble on condition of the rest of the tranny). Or doing a rebuild. Of course I've got to find a replacement for those two gears and hub  also assuming the shafts are in rebuildable shape. Advice? Opinions?

Negative early input shaft it shorter I believe. I might be able to swap the 4th gear counter gear and hub tho. not sure if they are the same diameter

I ended up just buying a new transmission. I'm tired of fighting the paisonos at the auction for a donor truck. Man the Mexican importers have ruined the secondary market on these vehicles.

I think what gnob was saying was that an early R150 has the same gear set and internals, with a shorter input.  So if you use your input in an older R150, and also your tailhousing so it bolts to your tcase, it would work.
