ECT removal after auto/manual swap?
« on: Aug 17, 2017, 04:31:35 AM »
So about the automatic ECT transmission control box forward the auto shift levers, does this need to stay in for any reason after a manual swap?

I am not sure after looking around other threads (or trying to understand the schematic) if the ECT ( Auto Transmission Control Box) is even necessary to jump the neutral wires, attach the reverse lights, or the 4wd indicator light. Or if these functions run directly through the main ECU directly.

Thanks..

Only needed after you burn up the clutch and continue to kill the engine trying to get up a hill and then you realize the auto was easier to wheel and you want to put it back in.  One foot on the brake and one on the gas. Sorry had to.....

nope you can ditch it completely.
you will jump the start circuit below the intake where the trans wire harness came to. your 4wd and reverse lights will also tap into the same area different plugs however. i cut the wires of of the old trans and used them to wire in the switches so it retained some of the oem look.... if you need help finding out what pins and such i can send you pictures of what i did.
